Leika's Transformation and Road to Good Health

Check out Leika’s transformation! Leika was put on our radar by @marleysmutts. She came from a hoarder in Bakersfield who had many other animals besides wolf dogs living in poor conditions. When Leika arrived to our sanctuary, she was completely emaciated, had rotten teeth, and was incredibly shy and slightly fearful of men. Leika was probably the skinniest wolf dog or dog we had ever rescued. She mainly didn’t eat because her mouth was in constant pain. After getting her bad teeth removed, she started eating and gaining weight! However, due to years of neglect and mistreatment Leika has had other issues. She had a tumor on or spleen that had to be removed, and a blockage in her intestine. She’s had several surgeries, but still remains hopeful and is strong with the help of @shiloh_vet_hospital and her new best friend Bash. We paired Leika with Bash when we realized they would be a good fit, and they both needed someone to be bonded with. They luckily bonded instantly, and their relationship has aided greatly in Leika’s road to recovery. Leika now has warmed up to all people, and is incredibly gentle and sweet.
